Security and data

Security and data handling.

Your team approves every page and the print proof before anything is printed or published. CAD stays private, and every plan includes a DPA.

  • You approve every page

Pages and print proof, before anything prints or goes online.

  • CAD stays private

The browser gets a simplified display model, never your source file.

  • A DPA on every package

What we process for you, where it lives and how it is deleted.

CAD files

How a CAD file is handled, from upload to deletion.

Upload CAD to private storage in the brand portal. Every access is logged.

Your source fileEvery internal edge and detail. Stays in private storage.
What the browser getsA simplified model of the outside of each part.
  1. Upload

    Into private storage

Files are stored privately and sent over an encrypted connection. Every access is logged.

  2. Convert

    Into a display model

We simplify the CAD and strip hidden internal geometry and file metadata.

  3. Serve

    Only the display model

The browser gets a simplified model of each part's outside. Your source file stays private.

  4. Delete

    When you ask

Kept while the guide is live, deleted on request, as the terms and the DPA set out.

Inside a guide

What a 3D guide collects, and who receives it.

The brand decides what consumer data a guide collects, and we process it for them. See the privacy policy.

Making a manual

How a manual is made, and who decides.

The manual is part of your product, so the decisions stay with your team. We draft the manual and flag gaps. We never claim compliance.

Your team approves every page

Your reviewer confirms or flags every item before anything prints or goes online.

Warnings come from your text

Copied word for word from your manual with its page and signal word. We never reword them.

Gaps come back as questions

For regulated products, gaps go to your team as questions, never as findings.

Print files in open formats

You receive print-ready PDFs to print, keep and move, with or without a plan.

Subprocessors and the DPA

Our subprocessors are listed in the privacy policy.

A data processing agreement (DPA) is included on every plan. Each provider, what it does and where it runs is in section 6 of the privacy policy. Brand account owners get 30 days' notice by email before we add one.

Practices

How this site and the guides are run.

Encrypted, locked-down pages

Every page is served over HTTPS with strict security headers and loads nothing from other companies.

People, not shared logins

Each reviewer has their own account, and every approval records who and when.

Every revision on record

Earlier revisions are kept, so you can show what a customer saw on any date.

  • Does this make our manual compliant?

Your team approves every page before production. For regulated products, such as children's furniture, dressers, and gas or electrical products, we check the manual against the requirements you give us and flag gaps. We never claim compliance. Whether a manual meets a standard or a law stays a decision for your team and your counsel.

  • Who owns the print files?

You do. You receive them as print-ready PDFs, so you can print, keep and move them. The brand approves the content and owns it.

  • Do you use our CAD or manuals to train AI models?

No. Your files are used to build and maintain your own guides. The DPA lists every subprocessor, including any AI provider, with the terms that stop them training on your data.

  • Does a guide load anything from other companies?

No. A guide is one self-contained page: the engine, the drawings and the fonts come from the same place, with no advertising or third-party analytics scripts.

  • Is there a data processing agreement?

Yes. A data processing agreement (DPA) is included on every plan. It sets out what we process for you, where, and how it is deleted.

  • Are you certified?

Not yet. We will not claim a certification until an auditor has issued it. Ask us for our current security answers and we will send them.

  • How do we report a security problem?

Email security@interstellarinstructions.com. We reply within two working days and credit reporters who want it.
