1. Who these terms are between
- Us: Tate Development LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, doing business as Interstellar Instructions ("we", "us"). Contact: legal@interstellarinstructions.com. Mailing address: 30 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801.
- You: the company that signs up or signs an order form ("the Brand"), and the people it invites to its account.
- Order form: a signed quote or checkout page that names a plan, price and term. If an order form and these terms disagree, the order form wins for that order only.
- These terms are version 1.0, last updated 5 Oct 2026. Each approval of a guide records the terms version in force.
2. What we provide
The service ("the Service") is:
- Building 3D guides. From the manual and other files you give us, our software (including AI models) drafts a 3D step-by-step guide for a product ("Guide"), plus a text version and a printable PDF.
- A review screen where your people check each step against your manual page and approve it.
- Hosting of approved Guides at our URLs (or your custom domain on plans that include it), a permanent QR short link per Guide, embed code, and part-request routing.
- Analytics on how buyers use your Guides.
- Optional paid add-ons named in an order form (for example done-for-you review at $150 per Guide).
- A free sample. Before you buy, we may build a sample Guide from your public manual and send a private link to your team. A sample is for your evaluation only. It is not published, the link expires (30 days unless we say otherwise, never more than 90), it carries a notice that it is not affiliated with or approved by you, and we use your brand and product names in it only to identify the product. A sample is not a Guide you approved, and nothing in it is your instruction to buyers. It costs nothing, creates no duty to buy, and comes with no warranty. If you tell us no, we delete the sample and the downloaded manual within 60 days.
The Service does not include writing your product's instructions from scratch, testing your product, or giving engineering, legal or regulatory advice.
Manual Services. If an order form names Manual Services (we author or redraw the print-ready assembly manual, and provide the Guide, translations and hosting for each product), the Manual Services Schedule that comes with that order form also applies. For those services the Schedule's rules on approval of every page and the print proof, responsibility for compliance, regulated (gated) product categories, warranty, liability, indemnity and print-file handover control over sections 5, 14, 15 and 16 of these terms where they differ.
3. Plans and billing
3.1 Plans (list prices as of 5 Oct 2026; the order form controls)
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Live guides included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $149 | $1,490 | 3 |
| Growth | $749 | $7,490 | 15 |
| Catalog | $1,290 | $12,900, plus $3,750 onboarding | 75 |
| Enterprise | quote | quote (annual only) | 300+ |
- What counts as a live guide: one published, approved Guide for one product family. Colour and size variants are included. A Guide over 40 steps, or covering more than one box, counts as two.
- Builds: included up to your guide limit. If you retire a Guide, its slot can take a new build, up to two new builds per slot per year. Rebuilds after your manual changes are unlimited.
- Scans: unlimited. Ask answers have a fair-use limit of 2,000 per Guide per month; above that we will contact you before anything changes.
- Extra guides and add-ons are priced in the order form.
- Every plan is charged at the list price from the first day. We do not offer introductory pricing, and no plan carries a price hold.
3.2 Billing
- Monthly plans are billed in advance each month by card. Annual plans are billed in advance each year (card, ACH or invoice, net 30 days on Catalog and Enterprise). Annual pricing equals two months free.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
- Fees exclude taxes. You pay applicable sales, use or VAT taxes, except taxes on our income.
- Late invoices: after 15 days' written notice we may suspend publishing new Guides (not live Guides; see section 9) until paid.
- Renewal: plans renew for the same period unless either side cancels before the renewal date. Monthly plans cancel effective the end of the paid month. Annual plans run to the end of the paid year; no partial refunds except as stated in section 14. Before an annual renewal we email the account owner between 30 and 60 days ahead with the renewal date and price.
- Price changes: at least 60 days' notice before a renewal, never mid-term.
4. Your account
- You are responsible for everyone you invite and for keeping sign-ins secure. Tell us promptly of any unauthorised use.
- Each person who approves a Guide must be authorised by you to do so. An approval by any member of your account with the approver role is your approval.
- You must be a business. The Service is not for consumers.
5. Your review and approval
5.1 The approved Guide is your instruction
- Nothing publishes until a member of your account approves that exact version. Approval is recorded with the person, time, Guide version and terms version.
- When you approve a Guide, you adopt it as your own product instruction. You, as the manufacturer (or the party that places the product on the market), are responsible for its content, including steps, warnings, identifiers, measurements, translations and Ask answers drawn from it.
- You confirm that every warning in the Guide appears verbatim from your manual, with your signal word (DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION or NOTICE, per ANSI Z535.6), and that nothing required is missing. Where your manual prints no signal word and our draft proposed one, the level you approve is your decision.
- You confirm product identifiers (GTIN, SKU, model, brand part numbers) and support contacts. Our software never invents these; unknown values stay blank until you supply them.
- You confirm every measurement our draft marked as estimated, and every translation (a translation stays marked "machine" until a native speaker you choose reviews it).
- If a Guide concerns a product covered by a specific safety rule (for example the US clothing storage unit tip-over rule, 16 CFR part 1261, which adopts ASTM F2057-23 and requires an anti-tip device to be packaged with the product: CPSC), you are responsible for the Guide reflecting that rule's warnings and steps.
5.2 Your official instructions come first
- The Guide supplements your printed or official instructions. If the Guide and your official instructions differ, your official instructions control, and every Guide says so on its safety sheet and text version: "If this guide and the printed instructions differ, follow the printed instructions."
- You remain responsible for any paper instructions and safety information the law requires you to ship with the product. See section 5.4.
5.3 Changes after approval
- Your manual changes: tell us, or upload the new manual. We rebuild; the new version needs your approval before it replaces the live one. Until then the old approved version stays live. You may instead ask us to take the Guide down at once.
- Safety updates and recalls: if you notify us of a recall, a new warning or a safety issue, we will, within one business day, either publish an approved update or place a notice you provide at the top of the Guide, or take it down, as you direct.
- Our engine changes: the viewer engine is shared by all Guides and improves over time. We will not change the content you approved (steps, warnings, identifiers, text). Before an engine update reaches a published Guide, we re-render every step and check it against the approved version. If an update would change what a step shows in a way a reader would notice, we ask you to re-approve first.
5.4 Regulatory responsibility stays with you
You are responsible for your product's compliance, including:
- EU General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (EUR-Lex): instructions and safety information in the required languages, and a manufacturer electronic contact address. Our Guides do not replace paper instructions for consumer products unless you conclude, with your own advisers, that digital instructions are enough for your product.
- EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 (EUR-Lex), applying from 20 January 2027, which allows digital instructions but requires paper free of charge within one month on request, online availability for the machine's expected lifetime and at least 10 years after it is placed on the market, a downloadable format, and essential safety information on paper where non-professional users are foreseeable. See section 11 for how our hosting interacts with this.
- European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882 (EUR-Lex) where it applies to your products or your e-commerce service. We design the viewer toward WCAG 2.2 level AA (W3C): a text alternative for each step (1.1.1 Non-text Content) and turn and zoom buttons in place of dragging (2.5.7 Dragging Movements), plus a static text version of every Guide. This is a design aim and not a promise that every Guide meets that level.
- US product safety rules for your product category.
6. Our spot-checks
- We check a sample of Guides against the manual, and every Guide we or you flag as high-stakes (structural, electrical, heavy lifting, or high risk level) before it publishes.
- We may refuse to publish, or take down, a Guide we believe is unsafe, inaccurate or unlawful, and will tell you why.
- Spot-checks help catch errors. They are not a certification, audit or engineering review, do not shift responsibility for content from you to us, and create no duty to you or any third party beyond what these terms state. Done-for-you review (paid add-on) is a more thorough check of the same kind, with the same limits.
7. Materials you give us
7.1 Licence to us
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence, for the term of your plan plus any continuity or archive period in sections 10 and 11, to use, copy, adapt, translate and display:
- your manuals, spec sheets, photos, CAD files, logos, trade names, colours and product names ("Brand Materials"),
only to provide the Service to you: building, reviewing, hosting and routing requests for your Guides, and supporting you. We will not use Brand Materials for any other customer, or to train AI models offered to others. Our AI providers process Brand Materials only to produce output for you, under commercial terms that do not allow them to train on it.
You also allow us to name you as a customer and show your logo on our site and sales materials, unless you opt out in writing. We will not publish a case study with numbers without your approval.
7.2 Your promises about Brand Materials
You have the right to give them to us for this purpose. If you are a reseller or private-label seller, you have the rights you need from the original maker. Brand Materials do not infringe anyone's rights.
7.3 CAD files: confidentiality and handling
CAD is optional. When you upload it:
- Private storage. CAD source files sit in a private storage bucket, uploaded over encrypted connections by one-time signed links. They are never public and never sent to a browser.
- Display model only. A separate conversion job makes a simplified display model: reduced detail, hidden internal geometry removed, file metadata stripped. Only that display model appears in a Guide.
- Access. Only the people and systems that need it to build your Guide can open the source file. Every access is logged. Any outside service that handles CAD source files is named in our privacy policy before it first handles yours.
- Confidential. CAD source files are your Confidential Information under section 8, whatever their marking. A display model that appears in a published Guide is visible to every reader and is treated as public.
- Deletion. You can delete a CAD file from your dashboard at any time, or ask us to. We delete it from active storage within 7 days and from backups within 35 days, and confirm in writing on request. Display models already in a published Guide stay until you retire that Guide.
- No other use. We will not use your CAD to build anything for anyone else, to design products, or to train models.
8. Confidentiality
Each side keeps the other's non-public business information confidential, uses it only for this agreement, and protects it with at least reasonable care. Standard exceptions: already public, already known, independently developed, received lawfully from a third party, or required by law (with notice where allowed). Survives 3 years after termination, and for CAD source files and trade secrets for as long as they remain secret.
9. Data: ownership, export and analytics
- Your data. You own Brand Materials, your approved Guide text, part requests sent to you, and your account's analytics data ("Brand Data").
- Consumer personal data (for example the email a buyer types into a part request) is processed by us for you under our Data Processing Addendum, which is included on every plan and available on request. You are the controller; we are the processor.
- Export. At any time during the term and for 60 days after your plan ends, you can export from your dashboard: each Guide's data file, text version, PDF, the self-contained single-file 3D guide (it runs offline with no third-party requests), part requests, and analytics as CSV. A finished export stays available to download for 14 days, and you can make a new one at any time in the window. On Enterprise, raw event export.
- Closing your account. The account owner can ask to close the account from the dashboard. When the plan ends, your team keeps sign-in access for the 60 day export window. After that, access ends and we delete Brand Data as section 17 describes.
- Licence for exported guides. For each exported single-file 3D guide, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to host and let the public use that file, unmodified, for that product. The viewer engine inside it remains ours; you may not extract it to build other guides.
- Portal usage analytics. Our brand portal records how your team uses it (pages opened, features used, errors), tied to the signed-in account and your brand, never the contents of forms or files. This is part of the Service; we use it to run, support and improve the Service, and the Privacy Policy describes it.
- Aggregated data. We may use analytics and portal usage records in aggregated, de-identified form (for example average completion rates by product category) to run and improve the Service and to publish benchmarks that do not identify you or any person.
- Ask questions. Questions buyers type into Ask are logged for your analytics (top questions, gaps in the manual). We use them to improve your Guide; we use them for the Service generally only in aggregated, de-identified form.
- Who owns the Guide. You own your content. We own the software, the 3D models and the other assets we create, and license them to you for your Guides.
10. QR continuity promise
Printed boxes outlive subscriptions, so:
- If your plan ends for any reason other than section 17.3 (termination for your breach) or a takedown under section 5.3 or 12, every QR short link you printed keeps opening a read-only version of the last approved version of that Guide for 24 months after the plan ends.
- "Read-only" means: the Guide as approved, with a notice that it is archived, no new builds, and with Ask answers and part requests switched off. Buyers use your support contact for anything else.
- During those 24 months you may instead ask us to point the QR links at a URL you choose (redirect), or to take the Guides down. After 24 months, the links send readers to the URL you chose, or if you chose none, to a page saying the guide is no longer available and naming your support contact.
- A short code is never reused for another product.
11. Support, availability and the EU 10-year rule
- Support. You can write to support@interstellarinstructions.com or use Contact support in the dashboard. We answer during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00 US Central Time). First-response targets by plan: Starter 2 business days, Growth 1 business day, Catalog 8 business hours, Enterprise 4 business hours. A safety issue in a live Guide gets a first response within 4 business hours on every plan. These are targets for a first reply from a person and not a promise to resolve an issue by a set time.
- Uptime. We run the Service to be available all day, every day, but on Starter, Growth and Catalog we do not commit to an uptime percentage and give no service credits. Enterprise plans carry an uptime commitment, with any credits, in the order form.
- Our hosting is not your legal archive unless you buy one. For machinery placed on the EU market from 20 January 2027, Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 requires digital instructions to stay online for the machine's expected lifetime and at least 10 years after placing on the market (see section 5.4). That duty is the manufacturer's. Under a standard plan, our hosting ends with the plan (plus section 10). To meet the rule you can either:
- export the self-contained guide file, text version and PDF (section 9) and host them yourself, and we make the QR links redirect to your host; or
- buy an archive term by written agreement: prepaid read-only hosting for a stated period, priced in an order form, with every approved version preserved.
- Paper on request, downloadable format and the essential safety sheet on paper remain your obligations; our PDF output can help you meet them.
12. Acceptable use
You will not use the Service to:
- make Guides for products you do not make, sell under your brand, or have the rights to;
- publish content that is false, unsafe, infringing, or that removes or weakens a required warning;
- upload malware, probe or overload the Service, or get around plan limits or access controls;
- access other customers' data, or scrape the Service;
- use the Service in breach of export, sanctions or consumer protection laws.
We may suspend the affected Guide or account for a serious breach or a safety or legal risk, with notice where practical. To report a Guide that infringes your rights or a complaint about its content, write to legal@interstellarinstructions.com with the Guide's address, what is wrong and who you are. A named person replies within two working days.
13. Intellectual property
- Ours: the Service, the viewer engine, the parts kit, templates, build tools, AI prompts and pipeline, the 3D models and illustrations we create (other than your Brand Materials), and our trademarks.
- Yours: Brand Materials and your trademarks.
- Licence to you: during the term, a non-exclusive licence to use the Service and to show your Guides (including embedding them and printing the QR and PDF) for your products. Section 9 covers exported guides.
- Feedback: we may use your suggestions without obligation.
- Your marks in our URLs: you allow us to use your name and product names in Guide URLs, page titles and hubs, and your logo and colours in Guides, during the term and any continuity period.
14. Warranties and disclaimers
- We promise: to provide the Service with reasonable skill and care; that a published Guide will display the content you approved (subject to section 5.3); that we will not materially reduce core features of your plan during a paid term; and that we will follow the security measures in the Data Processing Addendum.
- Remedy: if we breach these promises and do not fix it within 30 days of notice, you may end the affected plan and get a refund of prepaid fees for the unused period.
- Otherwise, the Service is provided "as is". AI drafts can be wrong; that is why nothing publishes without your approval. We do not warrant that drafts are accurate, that the Service meets any regulation, or that it will reduce returns or support contacts. ROI figures we show are estimates. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all other warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places do not allow some of these limits; where that is so, they apply to the fullest extent allowed.
15. Limitation of liability
A Guide tells people how to assemble products. If a step or warning is wrong and someone is hurt, claims may come from the injured person, who never agreed to these terms, and from the Brand. This section sets how risk is shared between us and the Brand. It does not bind anyone else, and it does not limit liability to injured persons that the law does not allow to be limited.
- Neither side is liable to the other for indirect, consequential or lost-profit damages.
- Each side's total liability to the other is capped at the greater of the fees paid and payable in the 12 months before the claim and $5,000.
- Not capped: your payment obligations; either side's indemnity obligations in section 16; breach of confidentiality (including CAD); gross negligence, fraud or wilful misconduct; and anything the law does not allow to be limited (for example death or personal injury caused by negligence in some jurisdictions).
We carry technology errors and omissions insurance and give evidence of cover on request. You carry product liability insurance for your products, and on Catalog and Enterprise orders you give us evidence of it on request.
16. Indemnities
16.1 You indemnify us
You will defend us and pay resulting damages, costs and reasonable legal fees for third-party claims arising from:
- the content of a Guide you approved, including steps, warnings, identifiers and translations, and any claim of injury or damage by a person using your product, except to the extent caused by our breach of section 14 (for example we displayed content different from what you approved);
- your product itself;
- Brand Materials infringing anyone's rights;
- your breach of section 12 or of data protection law in your role as controller.
16.2 We indemnify you
We will defend you and pay resulting damages, costs and reasonable legal fees for third-party claims that:
- the Service (excluding Brand Materials and your content) infringes a US patent, copyright or trademark, or misappropriates a trade secret; and
- arise from a Guide displaying content materially different from the version you approved, caused by our software or staff.
For an infringement claim we may modify the Service, get a licence, or end the affected feature and refund prepaid fees for it. No indemnity for claims caused by your changes, combinations or misuse, or for a feature that is not part of the Service described in section 2, including any feature that uses a device camera.
16.3 Process
Prompt notice, control of the defence to the indemnifying side, reasonable cooperation, no settlement admitting fault of the other side without consent.
17. Term and termination
- Term: from the order date for the plan period, renewing under section 3.2.
- Cancel for convenience: either side at the end of the current period, with notice in the dashboard or by email.
- Terminate for breach: either side, if the other materially breaches and does not cure within 30 days of notice (10 days for non-payment). We may terminate at once for a serious safety risk or unlawful use.
- Effect: Guides go read-only under section 10 (unless 17.3 applies against you); export under section 9 for 60 days; then we delete Brand Data and CAD within 30 days under the Data Processing Addendum, except the continuity or archive copies you are entitled to and records we must keep by law (approval records, invoices).
- Approval records survive. We keep the record of who approved which version, when and under which terms version, for 10 years, because both sides may need it to answer a claim.
- Sections 5.1, 7.3 (deletion), 8, 9 (export window), 10, 11 (any purchased archive), 13, 15, 16 and 18 survive.
18. General
- Governing law and venue: the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict of law rules. The state and federal courts located in Wyoming have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the order form says otherwise. Mandatory consumer or local law that cannot be waived is not affected.
- Notices: by email to the account owner and to legal@interstellarinstructions.com.
- Changes to these terms: we give 30 days' notice of material changes; they apply from your next renewal, or earlier only if required by law or you accept them (for example when approving a Guide under a new terms version).
- Assignment: neither side without consent, except to a successor of its business with notice. Continuity and archive obligations bind any successor.
- Subcontractors: we may use subprocessors (Data Processing Addendum) and contractors, and stay responsible for them.
- Force majeure: neither side is liable for delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control, other than payment.
- Independent contractors: the sides are not partners, agents or employees of each other.
- No third-party beneficiaries: only the sides have rights under these terms.
- Entire agreement, severability, no waiver: these terms and the order form are the whole agreement. If a part is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a right is not giving it up.
- Export and sanctions: each side complies.
- Order of precedence: order form, then Data Processing Addendum (for personal data), then these terms.
